Google Chrome OS 공식 발표

"We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser. What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what we set out to build," said Google in September 2008.

Google's blog announces a natural extension of the Chrome project: an operating system for netbooks. "Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010.

As people use more and more web applications, the operating system becomes less important and it makes no sense to pay for it. The desktop mail client could be replaced by Gmail, the calendaring application could be replaced by Google Calendar, the office suite has lightweight alternatives: Google Docs and Zoho, it makes more sense to use an online feed reader like Google Reader, your scientific calculator is less powerful than Wolfram Alpha and you'll rarely need a video player when you have YouTube, Hulu and other video sites.

구글에서 크롬 OS를 공식 발표 했습니다. 구글에서 요즘같은 인터넷이 컴퓨터의 주류로 취급되는 때에는 웝페이지 와 응용프로그램에대한 현대적인 플랫폼을 갖춘 브라우져가 더 운영체제보다는 필요하다고 주장하면서 지금의 크롬을 가볍고 오픈소스체계로 가는 넷북을 타겟으로 한 구글 크롬 OS를 만들 프로젝트를 진행중이라고 설명했습니다.

생각해 보니 저도 운영체제는 부팅하고 인터넷에 연결하기 전까지만 사용하는 것 같네요.

그리고 필요한 어플은 gmail( 데스크탑 메일), google calendar(일정관리 등), google docsand zoho(문서관리), google reader(온라인 피드백 리더), Youtube(동영상 관련) 등을 사용하면 된다고 언급하는데 꼭  아직은 시기상조인듯 싶으나 향후에는 다 이렇게 갈 것으로 조심스럽게 예상해 봅니다. 그리고 Google Docs의 편리함 덕분에 온라인 오피스를 저를 포함하여 많은 분이 쓰고 있더라구요.

다만 우려되는 것은 많은 분이 아직까지 windows라는 운영체계를 더 편리하다고 느끼고 있고 온라인으로 무었을 한다는 것은 보안이나 신분노출이라는 걱정때문에 꺼려하고 있다고 생각하는데 그런 선행문제가 다 어느정도 충족되어야 웹OS의 미래와 전문성이 널리 보급되고 사용되리라고 생각합니다. 그러기 위해서는 아직 더 많고 편리한 웹 어플의 개발과 전문화를 구체화해야할 것 같습니다.

Chrome OS의 등장으로 인한 OS시장의 지각 변동이 일어나고 다양한 변화가 가속될 것은 명약관화 하리라 생각됩니다.
